Dark matter, dinosaurs and drawing: Joshua Korenblat on systems thinking

A single cell, a bee hive, the universe–understanding these complex systems is no easy task.

Enter system’s thinking, an approach based on mapping the interrelations between system structures and actors, as well as their long-term activity patterns. This approach, though originally focused on the natural world, is now being used to fuel innovation in social domains, such as economics.

In his SkIP session, Joshua Korenblat, Assistant Professor at the State University of New York and Graphicacy Art Director will lead a collaborative sketching exercise to identify the connections between three seemingly diverse topics: dark matter, dead dinosaurs, and the rise of mammals. He will then share a sketching-based approach to system’s thinking can be applied in other contexts.
